WELCOME NEW MEMBERS!
Beta is a selective academic and service organization that works to prepare members for college. Membership is by invitation only. (See Mrs. Atchley) We welcome all new members to one of the MOST EXCITING clubs here at Central. Beta-ites all agree that our club is a "tight-knit family" and we work to support one another in attaining lifelong success. Plus, it looks great on your college and scholarship applications!
Beta Requirements: 3.5 cummulative GPA for Freshmen (or previous membership in middle school)
3.0 cummulative GPA for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors
15 service hours per semester
Good behavior and character
(Students must also be on grade level in ALL CORE CLASSES per national regulations)
ONE TIME membership fee of $15 for national dues (paid to "Central High School")
State Convention: Held in Nashville, TN at the Opryland Hotel each spring. Cost is $250.
Beta currently sponsors: the Homecoming Dance, Anything Goes! wacky indoor field day competition, Relay for Life (cancer research), Beta Helpers, Fantasy of Trees, and many other events and charities.
Regualr Meetings: Tuesdays, 3:45-5:00 in NV03 (North Vocational)

What's Up With Beta? The Fountain City FOUNTAIN OF FABLES (A Halloween Storytelling Event sponsored by Central High School Creative Writing Students)The 1st Annual Fountain City Storytelling Festival, called Fountain of Fables, will take place on October 24th and 27th (from 5PM-7PM) and October 29 (from 1PM-3PM) at the Fountain City Library. The show is appropriate for audiences of all ages, but students are paying particular attention to planning stories for the 2nd to 5th grade audience. Please make plans to attend as Pi Rho and the Creative Writing class will be entertaining us with the sometimes funny, sometimes hairraising tales! Beta Club will also be on hand to do face painting for the kids in this COMPLETELY FREE event.
State Convention DatesApril 9th-11th at Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. The state theme (but not our campagin theme) is "Beta, Start Your Engines!"
First Official MeetingThe first official meeting for Beta Club members will be Tuesday, August 23rd at 3:45 in NV03. (The last room on the right in North Vocational. Go into the Recovery Credit computer lab, and the classroom entrace is on the back right.) All new members are welcome to attend, but we will be sending out official invites in the next two weeks. We will be discussing Homecoming and Beta State Convention. Things are looking good! We currently have someone to build our backdrops for our campaign skit and we will be starting on the scrapbook!
Homecoming DutiesAll Beta Members, please remember that you will be required to participate in 3 homecoming duties. We will discuss this at our next meeting on Tuesday. Don't forget it is now in NV03.
